Service Areas

The Borough has twelve service areas which provide a variety of services to the residents within the service area boundaries. The service areas are:

SERVICE AREA BOARD MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Service areas are administered by boards of directors. In the absence of a board the service area is administered by Borough staff. Candidates for board membership must submit a completed application to the Clerk's Office. The Mayor makes the appointment and it is subject to confirmation by the Assembly. Terms of office for board members is three years. The terms are staggered and expire on June 30 of each year. Residents of a service area who are registered voters are eligible to apply. In the Mud Bight Service Area and Loring Service Area an applicant does not have to reside in the service area, but must own land in the service area.

 

KETCHIKAN GATEWAY BOROUGH SERVICE AREA BOARD OF DIRECTORS VACANCIES

The Borough Clerk's Office is accepting applications for appointment to the following service area boards: Forest Park: 2 Vacancies Gold Nugget: 2 Vacancies Loring: 1 Vacancy Mud Bight: 3 Vacancies North Tongass Fire and EMS: 1 Vacancy South Tongass: 3 Vacancies Waterfall Creek: 1 Vacancy Board Member Qualifications: In order to be appointed to a service area board, an applicant must be a qualified Borough voter who at the time of appointment and have resided in the respective Service Area for not less than thirty days. (Loring and Mud Bight members must own land in the service area, but do not have to reside in the service area.) Application for Service Area Board of Directors Application Deadline: The deadline for applications to be submitted to the Borough Clerk’s office is June 7, 2013.
