Pet License
Locations available to purchase a pet license:
You may obtain your license in person at the shelter, by mail. Licenses are also available at Island to Island Veterinary Clinic and Stonetree Veterinary Clinic.
To get your pets license by mail: Fill out all 3 sections of the application and follow the directions listed below.
- Complete the application, and print and mail with your check to the address on the form.
- We will mail your license to the mailing address on the application.
- Be sure to provide phone numbers where requested so we may contact you in the event we have questions.
- Also, please indicate if you are eligible for the free senior license.
Canine licenses can be purchased for one, two, or three year duration.
A license may be issued with duration's of one, two or three years. The license shall expire at the point that the rabies certificate for the animal expires or one, two or three years from the date of issuance, whichever comes first.
License fees:
Unaltered dog - $50 (one year license only) Spayed/Neutered dog - $15 (one year) Spayed/Neutered dog - $27 (two years) Spayed/Neutered dog - $39 (three years) Every dog that lives in the Borough and is over the age of 4 months is required to have a current Borough License.
Current Rabies Information Required:
You will need to know your pet's rabies tag number, the expiration date, and the vet clinic that administered the vaccine. All of this information is available on your pet's rabies certificate. Your vet clinic is often willing to fax the certificate to the shelter at 907- 228-6679.
Senior License:
All Borough residents over the age of 65 are entitled to one free dog license per calendar year, as long as the animal has not been deemed potentially dangerous.
