Platting Actions
Abbreviated plats are simple subdivisions involving creation of no more than four lots; provided, that the subdivision does not:
- Create nonconforming existing structures in relation to minimum setbacks, lot coverage and other requirements listed under KGBC Title 18;
- Require the installation of utility improvements or an agreement to construct and install improvements (see KGBC 17.35.020);
- Alter a dedicated street or other right-of-way or require additional dedication;
- Deviate from the easement and lot design standards outlined in KGBC 17.25.030 and 17.25.040 or require a subdivision variance outlined in KGBC 17.10.040; and
- Require an amendment of zone boundaries on the official zoning map.
Pre-Application
- Prior to submission of application the Applicant will meet with a Planner to discuss plans and submit preliminary sketch plat for review.

Application Requirements
The following items shall be submitted to the Department of Planning and Community Development:
- Platting Action Application (PDF)
- One full size copy of the plat.
- One electronic copy (PDF) of the plat.
- No application fee
- One copy of the As-Built Survey
- One copy of Field Survey Traverse Report
- Title Report or Certificate to Plat
A plat alteration means a movement or elimination of lot lines on a plat, which do not:
- Create a net increase in the number of lots.
- Create a substandard lot.
- Create nonconforming existing structures in relation to minimum setbacks, lot coverage, and other requirements listed under KGBC Title 18.
- Deny adequate vehicle and utility access to and from any lots or tracts affected by the alteration or adjacent to it.

Preliminary plat means the preliminary subdivision plan drawn in conformance with the requirements of KGBC Title 17 and submitted to the Department of Planning and Community Development and the Planning Commission serving as the platting authority for review.
Final plat means the final drawing of the proposed subdivision prepared, drawn, and submitted in accordance with the requirements of this title and state law, which shall be deemed to incorporate all the conditions upon which the preliminary plat was approved by the Planning Commission serving as the Platting Authority and which, upon approval, is recorded in the Recorder's Office, Ketchikan Recording District.

- One copy of the As-Built Survey
- One copy of Field Survey Traverse Report
- Title Report or Certificate to Plat
Application Requirements - Final Plat
The following shall be submitted as part of an application for final plat approval:
- Platting Action Application (PDF)
- One full size copy of the final plat.
- One electronic (PDF) copy of the final plat.
- No application fee
- Documentation of satisfaction of Conditions or Bond for improvements
