e-Recording Services

In response to the closure of the Ketchikan District Recording Office, the Ketchikan Gateway Borough Department of Planning and Community Development now offers document processing for e-Recording to the State of Alaska. Most documents are accepted with the exception of plats at this time.

Electronic recording delivery service is currently provided by Simplifile through a license obtained by the Ketchikan Gateway Borough.

It is important to note that the Borough is not responsible to verify the legality and recordability of your document and does not provide legal advice. Minor mistakes in the completion of your forms can have serious legal consequences or delays.

Document preparation requirements remain consistent with state requirements and can be found on the Alaska website.

Documents for recording will be accepted Monday-Friday at the Department of Planning and Community Development located in the White Cliff Building at 1900 First Avenue, Suite 126.  Please allow for processing time of one week following document submission.  Documents will not be recorded on the same day of receipt.
