Tree CITY USA

The Ketchikan Gateway Borough is a Tree City USA as administered by the Arbor Day Foundation, with the Tree Department organized under Public Works.

In addition to overseeing the Borough's tree inventory and providing guidelines for planting, maintenance and removal of publicly owned trees, the Tree Department also oversees the annual observation of Arbor Day on the third Monday of every May.

Partner organizations include the Society of American Forest - Dixon Entrance Chapter, the United States Forest Service - Misty Fjord Ranger District, Alaska State Parks - Ketchikan Unit, and the Ketchikan Gateway Borough School District.
